I think this movie is going to do just what I was afraid-Be so good that I was willing to forgive and accept a blonde Elizabeth!!

MAYBE!! I make no guarantees, the books will always be superior to the movie

ETA: And was it just me, or was Elizabeth's character even less prominent in the movie? I know they had to condense and I understand, but it struck me as odd. In the books, I totally believe that Lissie and Bens friendship is deeper and more complex than her and Elizabeth's, but theyre not going to go make a boy friend doll. But it seemed odd that a movie centered around Lissie and Elizabeth's friendship edited out a lot of that. Who else was disappointed that no one say Elizabeth eventually tell of Annabelle? I felt that was the only scene that didnt deserve to get cut. It really shows her growing as a character and the movie sort of lacked that. Oh well.

Whats so bad about forgiving that shes blonde?

I also thought the movie was REALLY good. AG portrayed the characters just as I had imagined.

Because Im 21 and I have known Elizabeth to be a doe eyed brunette for the past decade+ and to me it suits her personality better and she was like a mini me since Im small, brown eyed, etc and my middle name is Elizabeth. And I think their reasong for changing her was shoddy to say the least

That, and Im just plain stubborn, dont like change and unforgiving When it all boils down to it, the doll itself does very little for me. But since Im a purist collector I feel compelled to want the Elizabeth AG created and have a hard time with 'creating' my own. LOL So Im in quite a pickle

Anywho, I agree. The characters were pretty dead on. I pictured grandfather being a little more gruff-there was no 'hurumphs!'-and Elizabeth was a little too spineless. But thats totally forgivable. What really mattered-to me-was Felicity, Ben and her immediete family and they were all perfect

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Agreed all the way. They definitely played up the Ben/Felicity friendship here. I loved that, but didn't really like how it left very little room for Elizabeth to be anything more than 1-dimensional. She was a bit funny, pretty much the only laughs in the movie were delivered by her. I can't remember what the first one was, but near the end she said something about telling Annabelle that Ben was the son of a wealthy Loyalist. I suppose this could have been the movie's way of showing that Elizabeth grew up a little. Truthfully, if that was the point of that line, it didn't deliver properly, and Elizabeth's character seemed almost pointless in this movie.

About blonde!Elizabeth, I hate to be an enabler, but she is so very pretty. She's still not really Elizabeth to me, but she's such a pretty doll. I love that face mold, and her hair is so long and brushable. You could always get her and have her be another Colonial friend? If they ever make a doll that looks like the real Elizabeth, I think my blonde!Elizabeth might be renamed, . And she looks gorgeous in Lissie's Holiday Gown and Summer dress.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">LOL, I know Cami, I have often thought of this. With her hair in a ponytail, I dont really care for her. But whenever I have seen pictures of Elizabeth with her hair in that half up style, I have to admit that she is pretty. To me she has always looked liked an Abigail though. If Jess has brown eyes and a face mold/skin tone that works, I might get both and have a trio of colonial friends. And then I will watch as my family pulls out their hair and shakes their head and declare that I have finally, totally lost it

You're right about Elizabeth's character not being very prominent in the movie. It makes me wonder if Elizabeth will sell as well as Nellie did last Christmas. But the movie is not centered around Felicity's and Elizabeth's friendship. It is basically Felicity's story as written in the six Felicity books. Julia Roberts announced she was going to produce the movies and AG decided to capitalize with the friends dolls.

I do think the Samantha movie was much more about her relationship with Nellie than her books were. I didn't find Nellie to be such a prominent character in the stories, except the last one, but she was definitelly a main character in the movie.

All of this is so funny to me! Mostly because I went through a really similar thought process before deciding that while I HAD to have Elizabeth ('cause she's just plain gorgeous, though sometimes her eyes look a little vacant), she would never be Elizabeth to me. This is why I'll be having a Colonial trio myself. "Elizabeth" has become Purity Cooper, a recent arrival to Williamsburg (her parents were driven out of Massachusetts by witchcraft accusations), and the AGOT 25 that I'm pretty darn sure my mom picked up at AGPC will be Elizabeth I also noticed E was hardly in the movie, but I was just too wrapped up in how cute Nan was to care

On the subject of the best friends dolls, what are they going to do when they get to Molly? She has two best friends.

    <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Isn't that weird?

Mine seems to sort of look down and to the side, I think it makes her look a bit timid, perhaps afraid of Annabelle? Maybe even a bit forlorn, perhaps this Elizabeth still misses England.

I, honestly, love it. I think it gives her eyes some sort of depth that none of my other dolls have.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">They're doing Emily, her "friend" who comes to stay with them from England in the 4th book. Lots of people here don't like that idea, (I think most of them are big Molly fans and would prefer to see her one, or both, of her actual friends). Personally, I like it as I don't care for Molly's looks, and Emily should have red hair, which I *love*. I would like to see Linda come out someday, though.

shortie, I know what you mean. I was reserving judgment on having the Elizabeth doll until I get to see her in person. Then, last night, as Felicity & Elizabeth peered out the frosty window and I held Felicity in my lap, I thought, "Oh, I need Elizbeth now." Which is NUTS because I have... EIGHT! And there's a possibility I'll get another for Christmas, and then of course I'll probably want Jess... Ruthie is a MUST HAVE, and Emily probably will be too... It never ends, but for now, I'm still waiting on Elizabeth until I can see her in Chicago-- heaven knows when that will be-- and make a final decision.

What did you girls think of the actress who played Annabelle? I thought she was just stunning, despite her snotty attitude. *That* made me wish Elizabeth had her coloring!

    Can't wait for the DVD!!!
